Under The Storm

@Tony Duque: Iceland's fascinating. I think the weather there is primarily due to its position on the edge of the gulf stream, and exposed in the atlantic. it's very windy and massive weather systems blow in and out several times over the course of a day. while we were there the ground was covered in a thick layer of snow, so we saw very different scenery from djtigersprout, who'd been (elsewhere in Iceland) there a few weeks earlier. as well as the wonderful light - perpetual sunrise/sunset colours - it's geologically fascinating, if one is into rocks.

@Ronnie 2¢: I thought we were a little crazy to be driving into it... but it all turned out well.

@Zing: don't be jealous... snow is nice on mountains / in fields, but ice and dirty slush tend to be the downside to winter in the city! I find I'm okay with about six weeks of winter and then I think it's time for summer already :)
