@Elaine-: it's funny: we never seem to visit the tourist attractions closest to home. I've lived near the ocean for most of the last 16 years (including 4 years in Vancouver), but this summer was the first time I went whale watching ...and I went twice in the space of one month - on opposite coasts - for good measure! I hadn't known about Race Rocks until this trip back to BC. sometimes it's good to be a visitor in one's own neighbourhood :-)
