I am travelling at the moment so here's one from the archives. As always thanks for your visits and your comments.
This shot is from Gamta Pass in Tibet, on the road to Everest Base Camp. This is about 100 km south east of Lhasa - i.e. a very windy 3+ hour drive up to over 4,400 metres. Gamta Pass overlooks the sacred Yamdrok Lake.
In Tibet prayer flags are traditionally tied at high points for good luck. There were thousands upon thousands of skeins of prayer flags tied here by all who had gone before us.

Beautiful. I hope to get to wander by there some day. Never gonna go up Everest, but I can aspire to perhaps get to walk around the base of it.

oh wow! this is amazing! i have long wanted to go to Tibet... hope to get the chance soon enough! This is wonderful -- love the hint of the wind, blowing around these prayer flags... love the desolate lands in the distance. simple and beautiful -- yet full of detail. bravo!

@dj.tigersprout: Thanks dj. You are right about the desolate earth: it is almost like a moonscape at this altitude, with enormous mountains rising into the blue blue sky.
Tibet is absolutely stunning - I'd highly recommend a visit. It's like no other place on earth :)
